About City

Helsinki also called as "Daughter of the Baltic", occupies peninsula and surrounding islands in the Baltic Sea of the Northern European nation called Finland. Helsinki was the venue for the 1952 Summer Olympics, the World Design Capital at 2012 and the host of the 52nd Eurovision Song Contest. It is one of the world’s most liveable cities with the urban standard of living high. It is a city of vibrant seaside, beautiful islands and great green parks. The city’s rhythm is laid back yet at the same time refreshingly active in terms of both the number and quality of restaurants and nightclubs. Modernized by Functionalism and Influenced by Classicism, Helsinki is best known for its Art Nouveau architecture.

It is the leading seaport and industrial city of Finland. It is home to diverse museums, operas, theatres, fashionable Design District and 18th century sea fortress Suomenlinna. Helsinki also often called the “white city of the north” due to buildings constructed from graphite, lies in the far south of the country. Some of the top tourist spots are Senate Square, Olympic Stadium, Suomenlinna Sea Fortress, Old Market Hall (Vanhakauppahalli), Design District, Helsinki Cathedral, Rock Church (Temppeliaukio Church), Sibelius Park.
